Some of you may have seen on Instagram and Facebook, that last week, I popped into M&S for some milk and leopard heels (as you do) and spotted navy suede ankle boots (just like the taupe ones I'd been admiring on Natalie from Glamrosie earlier that day). Just one pair left, in my size, in the sale. It was like the ankle boot gods were speaking to me.
Buying them then prompted a memory that on a similar mission a few months ago (for milk but not leopard heels), I bought these floral jeans in the Sainsbury's sale for about £5. I loved the pattern but they are a short leg so I had put them away until the weather warms up (ha!) to wear with pumps. Out they came as I knew they would be perfect with my new boots!
And here are the jeans a bit closer up
I partnered them with a Dorothy Perkins navy top, layered with a white vest and a white long sleeved top and popped on a contrasting striped scarf that picked up the grey from the floral pattern..
And here it is all together...
Add on a navy wool pea coat and I'm good to go!
Short Navy Wool Coat - Primark (old) Navy Long Sleeved Top - Dorothy Perkins (seen here) Floral Jeans - Sainsburys (new but old) Navy Suede Boots - M&S (sold out) Scarf - River Island (old) Necklace - Autograph @ M&S (seen here) |
Love when a plan comes together! And I also love getting some wear from winter items bought for a bargain price in the sales at this time of year. Husband thinks we should get a milkman.
As you can see, the white stuff lingers on. We had an avalanche from our roof this morning which took some of our down pipe with it. A slightly alarming start to the birthday celebrations for my son, now a big boy of 9. But we all cheered up when the cake and top hats came out...yum yum. Have a great day!
oooh I love those jeans and Sainsbury's has 25% off at the moment (including sale items too!)
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace
*fingers in ears* lalallallala I am banned from getting milk in Sainsburys. Only allowed into the local Spar garage. Sob. Ax
DeleteChanel handbags are manufactured to be used, not just displayed.
ReplyDeleteTheir ingenious design, delicate craftsmanship and high
quality greatly fascinate us. How important bags for a woman in the end matter?
Best after all, it is so well-known and is also best after for discontinued years.

I love the way you put inexpensive outfits together which look great. At 45 years old I am a bit scared to wear printed jeans (I do have good legs though) but you may have convinced me with your outfit today.
ReplyDeleteAw. thank you Jenny - so kind of you. I think as I approach 40, I'm giving two fingers to what I should be wearing. I never have worn printed trousers but now I think why not? If you have good legs, they are such a refreshing change from denim. Thank you for dropping by and for your lovely comment, Avril x
DeleteI love this outfit!! I'm not normally a navy fan but it looks so good instead of black here! Go away snow!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna - shout a bit louder there....it's snowing at the moment!! Grrrr.... Ax

Fabulous outfit and I hope it brings Spring on more swiftly, haha!! Sharon xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you Sharon...I love TU also - they are right on the ball at the moment. Ax
DeleteThe boots were obviously meant to be! Love navy and the outfit looks great....I'm so fed up with black in my wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteYou see, you get my thinking too - meant to be. Haha! Thanks Claire, Ax
Deleteha ha agree about the milkman! Love the boots very much and the floral jeans look great with them, what a bargain!
ReplyDeleteIt's his fault - he sacked the last one we had! Haha! Ax
DeleteLooks fab! I love navy too, and I think it's much more flattering and versatile than black x
ReplyDeleteVery true Helen, more people can wear navy successfully than can wear black. It's a great colour. Thanks for your comment! Ax
DeleteThe way you styled them is perfect. Would love to see them with your pumps as well! When the weather warms up, of course!
ReplyDeleteI promise to wear with my pumps - they are great with my blue one from last year. Hopefully in a few weeks?! Ax
DeleteLove the navy boots Avril - a real bargain there !
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire! Loving your giveaway atm - had to enter it. Happy Blog Birthday! Ax
DeleteHappy birthday to your not so little guy! The outfit looks lovely! Was really taken with the jeans when you tweeted a pic in hairdressers, thought they were leggings - you suit them! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Sera - they do look like leggings in that picture! I wonder why I am so afraid of printed leggings but will happily wear printed jeans...hmmm... Hope you're feeling better today. Thanks for dropping by, Ax
DeleteNow that's a really cute outfit .. but then I'm a big fan of navy! Laughing about your husband and the milkman. Happy Birthday to your son - you've no idea how much I'd love a slice of that cake right now! Thank goodness Lent is nearly over :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Helen! The cake was ace - even if I say so myself. Had to give half of it to Granny to stop us eating it all! lol Enjoy your chocolate this weekend! Ax
DeleteOh Avril - I can't keep up with your boots - you must nearly have as many pairs as Joanna! I love navy - such a nice change from grey and black. And the boots were clearly meant for you. Last pair, your size. Fate!
ReplyDeleteLots of boots? Moi? Sure I only have one or two pairs.....haha! Ax

ReplyDeleteThank you Louise - loving your cosy outfit today. Have a super Easter yourself! Ax
DeleteHi Avril,
ReplyDeleteDid you keep the M &S telephone dress in the end? Would be really interested to see how you styled it for day and night if you did? I bought one and really love it, but only bought it after seeing it on your blog and am not sure how to wear it. It's also a bit out of my comfort zone do don't want to make a huge fashion faux pas on its first outing! Advice please......!
Kitty x
Hi Kitty, I didn't keep it because I had no shoes to wear with it and was totally broke after buying some other stuff but now I am kicking myself because these navy boots would be perfect with it!
DeleteIf I still had it, I'd be wearing with these boots and a denim jacket or the navy coat on this post. And a white top layered under it with long sleeves. It needs the layers for this weather. Nighttime would have been more of a shoe challenge and I knew I'd have had ended up buying red shoes to wear with it. I do regret sending it back now.... :( Ax
Thanks for your tips and your reply. There are still plenty left on the UK website......if you can be tempted?? It gets lots of good feedback on the website. X

Ooooooh, I LOVE those jeans. I keep thinking "must get some printed jeans or trousers" but chicken out. But this has renewed my ardour.
