Denim at M&S | Spring 2020 | AD

For my February collaboration with M&S, I'm looking at their denim. This month saw the launch of their three key denim styles for SS20, Lily, Ivy and Sienna, great wardrobe staples all priced at £19.50, alongside a wider range of denim items to include shirts, jackets and dresses.
On a recent visit into the Belfast store, I tried on as many of the pieces as I could find in my size, starting with the Sienna Straight which is a lovely looser fit jean. They came up a bit neat size-wise (I'm wearing the 12S) and I've turned them up one turn in this photo. Wearing with a classic M&S white t-shirt and some fab Autograph nude slingbacks:

Next up I tried the Lily slim - again in the short leg. These felt a bit more generous in size than the Sienna but they felt shorter in the leg. Love the cut of these as they fall between a skinny and a straight.

And look at these trainers. They've been in store for a while but have just been reduced in price. So comfortable with a gorgeous bit of animal print. Right up my street though I'm trying not to buy more trainers...

Next up, the Ivy and these are a firm favourite of mine - I already have them in the faded indigo and black from previous seasons. For this post, I tried them on in two colour ways. First up, it's the indigo blue - a classic colour that will never date. I'm always asked about where to get good indigo jeans and you can't go wrong with these. They came up neat so I'd size up in this colour.

The breton is amazing - lovely thick fabric, almost verging on a light sweatshirt. Again, another wardrobe must have. I adore a classic cream based stripe top and wear mine all year round.

This green jacket though...it's a beaut. Lots of faux suede in the shops this season and this would make a great alternative to a biker or denim jacket this season. I'm wearing the 12 here.

The Ivy jeans in the grey were much better sized and I was able to comfortably wear my usual 12S. These are a great colour for spring summer and have a little bit of distressing on the knee but they don't show your skin - win/win

Next up, a different pair from the £19.50 range, the Mom jeans. Don't get me started on the word 'mom' when it comes to jeans....it does my head in but these jeans are actually gorgeous. Lovely and high waisted - probably the most comfortable of the non-skinny ones I tried.

Trying on a denim jacket next - a wardrobe classic and M&S have ticked this box well this year. I'm wearing the size 8 here so I definitely size down. Like biker jackets, denim jackets are more flattering when worn neat with wider bottoms - either skirts/dresses or joggers. And I tried it with these great tapered joggers that are a must buy. Sooo comfy - perfect for travel but also great to dress up or down. They'd be amazing with a heel and blazer on a night out.

Same outfit but different joggers - these are Per Una and they've got tencel in them so there's a lovely soft touch to this heavier fabric. You'd actually get away with these for work in some offices. I'm wearing the 12 here and they're a lovely fit. Don't go neat in joggers - always size up.

And finishing with a couple of things I couldn't try as my sizes weren't available, starting with this midi dress which I think is another winner from the denim range this season. So wearable - I'm asked every summer where to get a good denim midi!

And finishing with the Pink Faux Suede Jacket - same as the green but in a gorgeous pink shade....I want them both!
