JD Williams have asked me to work with them again this month and this time the brief is Occasion Wear - helping you to find something fabulous to wear to those occasions that don't come around too often but seem to take up waaaay too much 'what am I going to wear' time and effort!
Unlike most people, I actually welcome these invites - I absolutely love a good occasion and an excuse to dress up. Sadly, I have too few weddings in my life so most of my dressing up is on the blog. I'm a total pro at getting dolled up for photos in the back garden....
So starting with the dress - the star of the show. The reason I chose it is that it's actually a really wearable dress for a night out or a christening/first communion/graduation etc. And the whole outfit would work for the races too. I also love that you could throw a biker jacket over this and totally rock it up. I'm not ready for pashminas yet! Thankfully, no biker needed when I had these photos done as it was a beautiful balmy evening in the back garden.
The material in this dress is amazing...the right thickness to support you but not cling. It's also fully opaque and the print is SO forgiving. Just check my stories on Instagram to see what I mean!
The print is also really on trend - tropical, leafy and green with a dash of pink and plum. But with that base of black which makes it really versatile.
Shoes wise, I chose these classic barely there sandals that are so comfortable. They have a rubber grooved sole which makes them perfect for all day on your feet at a wedding or an occasion. They also come in a nude patent colour way.
But I think the fascinator is my favourite part of the outfit. It's so striking but not in your face and difficult to wear. It's one of the hairband ones so it's easy to pop on and off and the band part is easy to disguise under your hair.
Finally, I opted for a simple black clutch...like I said, it's all about the dress here. This is the perfect size for your phone, money and lipstick and it comes in several colours (on the link)
So I've got the hat, got the dress....all I need now is a wedding!
