What to wear to a Boat Race?

I've been invited to the Queens University Belfast Boat Race this Saturday, 2nd June and it got me thinking, what does one wear to a Boat Race? So I headed to Boat Race sponsors, the Outlet at Banbridge to try on some potential outfits..

First up, it was the LK Bennett outlet for some dressy options for the Boat Race enclosure. This high-waisted cream skirt caught my eye. Beautifully cut, it's reduced from £145 to £75. The silver silk top (similar) is just £30 and the coral & cream blouse is £40.

LK Bennett's shoes are stunning - I'm wearing the Selina pumps in red on the left and the Anna sling backs in coral on the right. Here's a close up of the Selina...
These are just one of those pairs of shoes you'll have all your life and they could be dressed up or down. Stunning. They are reduced in the Outlet from £185 to £115. I was so tempted but then there was this lovely outfit too - a little less dressy so perhaps better for this School Gate Mummy..
This sleeveless linen shirt dress (£95 reduced from £175) also comes in Coral and Stone and these stunning wedges (£100) are perfect for daytime. I could definitely see me wearing both again and again...so once more I was tempted! But then there was this handbag <swoon>
In a nude/pink colour, it's the statement LK Bennett Annina bag. Gorgeous leather, beautiful detailing...it deserves another picture I think..
It's reduced at the outlet by almost 50%, from £245 to £125...with an additional 10% off if you sign up for VIP vouchers at the Outlet's welcome centre. On top of that, there's a  special Jubilee Tea Party this Friday (1st June) with more discounts across the shop so it could be reduced even more then. What should I do...dither, dither...
To take my mind off LK Bennett handbags, I headed to the Marks & Spencer Outlet to look at some more causal outfits for the Boat Race. First up was this adorable boat print dress - only £12.50 which I paired with a white linen jacket priced at £28.
Then the shoe addiction kicked in again...these basket weave peep-toe pumps are so cute. They come in Red and Navy colourways and are just £16. What a lovely nautical look..

I think a maxi dress is a great look for a day into night-time event. This black dress (£25) could be paired with a cardigan or short jacket during the day but it equally suits an informal evening event. I paired it with black jewelled sandals (£17.50)
Then for a classic nautical look for daytime. Striped top (£5), linen jacket (£28), cropped jeans (my own!) and some blue boat shoes (£19.50):
And finally, cream slim fit jeans which unfortunately weren't in my size (white on link), a flattering striped top and some cream/metallic pumps (£18 & not unlike French Sole). The jacket is my own.
If you're in Belfast this weekend, you can watch the boat races from the new viewing area opposite the Queens PEC. It's going to be a great family day out with live entertainment, food and refreshments available from 12.30pm. More information HERE. I'm heading with the kids but what will I wear??....watch this space!

Avril. the LK Bennett silky grey top, black belt and white skirt looked STUNNING!! May not be the right thing for the boat race - cropped trousers and blue boating shoes outfit might be more pratical etc, but it was still STUNNING! Your figure rocks in it! Sharon

  6. I love the first outfit, really glam. But I suppose if you're on a day out with the children something more casual might be practical.

  10. Have to agree with everyone else - the first outfit looks amazing on you. I'm sure you will find somewhere to wear it though it's not suitable for a boat race. But the black maxi looks good too. Buy both!
