Following many requests over the past 2 weeks, I decided to ask on social media for up to date recommendations from followers who've recently used a shop and were delighted with the experience.
I'm ranking the shops in order of mentions - so the ones that got the most shout outs are at the top creating a top 5. Thereafter, I've just listed the rest in the order they came in. I really hope you find this helpful....I know I will find it so useful to have a list of shops to refer people to when I'm asked again. Oh and please do comment, email or message me if you would like me to include one that isn't already on the list. Throughout, I've mainly to the shop's Facebook pages as this is where you'll tend to see the most recent arrivals.
Based on the Lisburn Road, Blush Boutique stocks wedding & bridesmaid dresses and occasion & party frocks as well as mother of the bride/groom, it's a real one stop shop.
Perfect Day/Perfect Night are situated side by side in Lurgan. The 'Day' shop is all bridal, including bridesmaid so for Mother of the Bride/Groom, you'll want to visit Perfect Night, their occasion wear shop.
2. = Wardrobe Ballyclare
Wardrobe Ballyclare stocks many well known Mother of the Bride/Groom brands as well as a wide range of wedding guest option & casual brands.
Jumping over the border to Donegal for this next one, a favourite of my Donegal born Mother in Law too - so I know it's a good one!
3. = Rita's Downpatrick
Another one across the border, Vanity Fair is close to my home town in Co Kildare, just an hour from Dublin. Lots of comments about how friendly the owner is.
Familiar to those who drive to the North Coast, Logans is on the main road and I'm told it's a great spot for a bit to eat too.
4. = Katriona Banbridge
Banbridge is also home to Walk in Wardrobe and Dresser Boutique as well as Donaghy's shoes so it's a good one stop shop town.
5. = Jonzara Newtownards
5. = Gasp Armagh
I can personally vouch for this one as a choir friend recently got the most stunning mother of the bride outfit here for her daughter's Christmas wedding.
13. Evita Naas
Loved seeing this coming up as this is one from my childhood - from my home town!
15. Ciento Strabane
Finishing with a couple of other recommendations.
Preloved
Do consider pre-loved as there are so many once worn items at a fraction of the RRP in DejaVu. Ruth also has hats and bags. She doesn't do bridal though - people always ask me this!
Custom Made - I got three recommendations for tailors/designers who make bespoke pieces. Well worth approaching one of these people if you can't get exactly what you want or you have something that's not quite right. It's not as expensive as you think.
1. Una Rodden
Further Afield
Finally, I was recommended Jane Young in Nottinghamshire with a glowing review. So I thought I'd share here as I know many of you aren't local and others again may be willing to travel further afield.
Thanks to everyone who contributed - please add your votes or tell me more so I can increase this list to include great boutiques that have been missed out. Particularly looking for that personal recommendation or personal experience that really made that shop so memorable for you.
Ax
PS lots of you shouted out Jourdan on the Lisburn Road which has however recently closed due to the retirement of its owner and a pending redevelopment on the site.
