I still associate blazers with work but since I found jersey jackets, I'm finding they're great for making a pair of jeans and a t-shirt look just a bit smarter, but not so smart that you feel overdressed on the school run. My latest addition is this breton striped one from Gray & Osbourn.
Betty Barclay Jacquard Stripe Jacket - c/o Gray & Osborn
Coral Jersey T-Shirt - H&M (similar)
Boyfriend Jeans - Gap
Navy Pumps - Anna Field @ Zalando
Necklace - A21 charity pendant as featured in this post
Can you believe this is Betty Barclay? I actually went to see the BB range in a local boutique to make sure it was definitely part of the collection...and it is...as are some truly granny-tastic striped tops and navy slacks that were styled with it in the shop I visited. Proof that you can't discount mature brands - it's all about how you style them.
Now I've worn this a few times over the past month or so with grey but I was keen to try it with the coral accent colour so my H&M t-shirt I bought over Easter turned out to be a perfect match...
I've said it before about these jackets - they're so easy to wear all day long. I tend to put this on in the morning and I don't take it off all day. Great on these cooler days at the moment.
If the navy with coral isn't your style, Gray & Osbourn have a few other jersey jackets on their site at the moment - some of which are reduced in the sale:
1. Beige by G&O, 2. Grey Stripe by Gerry Weber, 3. Navy/White Stripe by Betty Barclay, 4.Coral by Frank Walder
Back with the long promised harem trouser post next!

Love stripes as you know and I love the neon coral/pink trimmings xx
ReplyDeleteYou've just reminded me H&M opened in Forestside today!!
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree about little blazers. I'm a bit addicted and can't stop buying them. Perfect for chilly Uk summers. Love your stripe one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Claire - I could see you wearing this one...it's a great fit x
ReplyDeleteWell there's a thought....has Clarks opened yet? I need to return something...and then a look in H&M would just have to happen too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann Marie - the neon gives it a lovely lift. Hope the move is going well! Ax
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect match for the t shirt. I love jersey jackets - the warmth of a cardi but just that bit smarter. And you're absolutely right that it's all about the styling x
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket but €150 is a little on the pricey side.
ReplyDeleteIt's not going to fit everyone's budget, which is why I shared some of the others that are at different price points. Don't forget to check out the Gray & Osbourn sale as they do great reductions Ax
ReplyDeleteThanks Helen, it is a good match. Was so pleased to come across it as it brightens up the jacket perfectly! Ax
ReplyDeleteGorgeous jacket, and I totally know what you mean feeling more formal in jackets/blazers so this is a great compromise. Love the little pink trim too. Is it jersey or a knitted material?
ReplyDeleteLove your hair up btw! We rearely see it like that.
ReplyDeleteI love that jacket - the pink edge looks so lovely teamed with the pink t-shirt. Can't beat a classic Breton style.
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing against the pink. I totally love it and I have a new theory with regards to clothes "buy once, buy well" - meaning buy statement items that will forever be in your wardrobe

Gorgeous jacket Avril, you won't be surprised to hear that I'd already spotted this one seeing as I have something of a jacket obsession & it looks fab with your t-shirt.
ReplyDeleteJane xx
Love this jacket Avril, it is the perfect Spring/ summer and layering piece, it is just a classic shape and I love the stripes with the touch of neon. No doubt this will last you a long time, it looks fabulous on you, off to check it out x love it paired with the pink t xx
ReplyDeleteThis jacket was made for you Avril! The fit & colours are perfect on you! Looking good with your hair up too! xx
ReplyDeleteSmart AND comfortable...now we're talking. What is there not to like about this jacket? Love it xx
ReplyDeleteNow this is a blast from the past. I used to sell Betty Barclay and Gerry Weber. It is, absolutely, down to the buying. You would have laughed at some of the buyers and what they deemed to be fashionable. Their clothing is definitely aimed at a more affluent market (mid range I would say) but it is really good stuff. I still have Betty Barclay pieces that I wear today. This looks fantastic on you and it will go with so many things. H xx
ReplyDeleteI love it. If you buy one quality jacket then this would be a great choice.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this jacket, I have just blogged it too! I really think you get what you pay for and this is a real investment piece. I would much rather save up for my key items and have something that will last x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous jacket. It's so stylish and it's perfect with the coral. I would think you'll get so much wear out of it xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about this brand (waving from America here), but it is darling on you. You need to wear coral more often...you look so beautiful in that color!
ReplyDeleteJust love how you have styled the jacket with the coral - appeals to my matchy matchiness side! I'm a massive fan of jersey or boucle jackets, so much easier to wear with jeans and not look ridiculously over dressed.
ReplyDeleteAbbi x
Truthfully, wasn't expecting that pricetag when I clicked through BUT I do adore it on you, I love the accented trim, that's extremely clever and you're right on the button, a savvy shopper cannot afford to discount the more mature brands, I've purchased stuff from the likes of EWM and Marisota before and would again. It's all in how you style items and I love the coral you've styled this with - very fresh looking! Gorgeous A xx
ReplyDeleteACTUALLY! Just clicked through on the Betty Barclay stripe jacket at £80, now I *really* love that, would be great for a pin up nautical feel and keeping my arms under wraps <3
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes edged with pink.....what a fab little jacket!! xx
ReplyDeleteI love the jacket! The pink piping is great. xxx
