30 Day Challenge Fail || Warehouse

My blog posts are proving to be a bit sporadic! Work has been hectic and home has been hectic and I spent the last few days in Dublin at the Showcase Ireland tradeshow which required a fair bit of advance planning and long days of hard work while there. But I'm home now and have a few days off to catch up.
Knowing I had the show to go to and not having factored it in when I pulled together my 30 items, I was in a panic about what to wear. So, early on Saturday morning, I went to my fail-safe store - Warehouse - and here's what I tried on, starting with a sale dress which was down to £18 and had an additional 20% off.

It's quite a formal material with a sheen to it but with opaques, ankle boots and a white shirt, I reckoned it would work well for work.
Next up, this dress was equally beautiful but even though it had black in the print, the overall look was navy, not what I wanted. Equally, it was a size 8 and was just too neat to be comfortable. But another beautiful dress also reduced to £18 - can't find this one online but you may be lucky in-store:

I tried on the top that matches this next dress when I was with the personal stylist before Christmas but it wasn't for me and even though I love the print, the style of this dress was also not really me. It looks ok from the front but it's open at the back, which wasn't going to work for a work gig.
This next dress is part of the new season and I LOVED the fit, the print...everything apart from the sleeves. The tie detail on the sleeves was impossible to tie without help and would simply get in the way of everything you wanted to do on a normal day, from eating to visiting the bathroom! They're a nightmare. I am watching for this to hit the sales and I'll buy it at half price and pay to have the ties removed.
This next one was a hit - it's new stock also and the material is beautiful. It looked like nothing on the hanger but it was a joy to wear. It was a definite yes and I wore it with black opaques & shoe boots but it's possibly one that could be worn with bare legs and flat black sandals in the warmer weather.
A few tops now and I've admired this top online for a while and was seriously tempted when I tried it on...
But it is quite see-through...I know I'm wearing a dark bra and that's not helping but I'd love if it was just a little less transparent..
This next one is the same print as the sleeveless top I already have and LOVE. The style of this top appealed to me more but I really didn't want to wear black at the show and I was worried I'd not wear as much because I already have another top in the same print.
I was saved by the fact that the top also comes in cream - although it's a bit see-through too. But I had my heart set on a cream top so I wore it on Day 1 with a nude vest underneath and it worked well with black coated jeans. I do find Warehouse comes up a little on the large side so I tried this in an 8 and felt it was a better fit than the 10.

Tie Neck Blouse - Size 8 - £35
So I'm putting my hands up and declaring a fail on the 30 day challenge but in my defence, it's a work event...something I didn't take into account when I chose my 30 items and it's just 3 items extra??!! Digging here. Sorry. I'm considering running the challenge until the 2nd Feb? Does that make up for it?
Anyway, if nothing else, it's given me a chance to jazz up the blog with some lovely new season stock and no-one can argue with that!
Back soon with the outfits I wore and the fab brands I discovered at Showcase,

Ax

  1. Oh I love the idea of having a wardrobe of only 30 items but I think I would find it so difficult! Some of these pieces from Warehouse are gorgeous, I must go and have a wee look :)

  2. Well done Avril - rules are made to be broken! I wouldn't have the discipline for the 30 day challenge and Warehouse are seriously on fire this season so understand the temptations. Also please don't feel the need to apologise for sporadic blog postings, it's your blog and you have a job and a family and other commitments - your readership are here when you do post! Pip
