Mother's Day Style & Scarf Tutorial

With all the choice I had in Heatons (see yesterday's post) it took a while to decide what would be my Mother's Day outfit. In the end, I went for separates as I knew I would get more wear out of them. Loved this cowl top with a side tie. SO flattering and really practical for now, with black or denim and a cardi. But it will work equally well with white skinnies in the summer.

Coral Cowl Neck Top
(wearing a size 12)
I had also been on the look out for a pair of black slim fit trousers (not jeans) so these high waisted stretch twill trousers from Heatons ticked all the boxes for me - they are proper high waisters with a zip down the back, which is a lovely detail to show off.
It's a bit difficult to capture on camera in the poor light this weekend (eh, spring...what's the story??) But hopefully you get the gist. I got size 12 in these. They also come in navy and in two different leg lengths, 29' and 31'. I'm wearing the longer ones.
Then for the scarf - just loved this one - full but light, gorgeous browns, blacks, purple and neon orange.
And as it feels like winter this weekend, I added a black cropped cardigan (H&M) and topped it all off with my Karen Millen trenchcoat for a stylish Mother's Day look.
And how to tie the scarf? Well, a cowl neck doesn't really suit a scarf but it's such a great match with the top and seeing as it's bitterly cold this weekend, I played about with it for a while and decided a loose european loop (check me with the scarf lingo!) works best..
Fold the scarf in half and put round your neck. Put the ends inside the loop and pull tight - voila, you have a European Loop!
Then you open out the loop so that it hides the loose ends. No name for it but hopefully simple to re-create at home? You can let me know :)
So I'll finish by wishing all the mummies out there a very happy Mother's Day. I hope you all get spoiled a little bit today x
